Rubber seals for oil-filled transformers are a key component of the circulation system, ensuring stable and reliable transformer operation.
They are installed between transformer components that share contact surfaces. When these surfaces contact, the gasket deforms to a certain extent, filling the gaps between the contacting surfaces and preventing leakage or seepage of transformer oil.
We manufacture rubber gaskets for transformers using a hydraulic cutting method from rubber sheets of varying thicknesses.
Special attention is paid to the quality of the rubber sheets, which we source from domestic manufacturers. These sheets must meet the following requirements:
- Universal oil-heat-cold resistance – resistant to oils and fats, as well as to both low and high temperatures;
- Operating temperature range: -60°C to +100°C;
- Chemical and environmental resistance: resistant to transformer oil, moisture, and air;
- Hardness: 40–90 Shore A;
- Elongation at break: up to 1000%;
- Density: 1.04–1.19 g/cm³.
Rubber seals are manufactured using a modern water-abrasive (hydro-abrasive) cutting method. This process utilizes water pumped at high pressure (up to 4000bar) through a nozzle, forming a jet with a diameter of 0.2–0.35mm. The jet enters a mixing chamber, where it is combined with an abrasive. The abrasive-laden water then passes through a tungsten carbide or diamond nozzle with an internal diameter of 0.6–1.2mm. The jet exits the nozzle at a speed approximately three times the speed of sound and impacts the surface of the material to be cut.
Advantages of hydro-abrasive rubber cutting:
- No thermal impact on the cutting edge, preserving the material’s internal properties;
- Ability to cut complex and intricate contours;
- High-precision cutting, comparable to laser cutting;
- Minimal material deformation, maintaining structural integrity.
This method ensures precise, high-quality cuts without altering the physical or chemical properties of the rubber.
